The role

The Research intern for Political Analysis position is part of Polixis’ strategically important growing team in charge of collecting and analyzing regulatory, sanction and other risk-relevant data. It is a great opportunity for deepening your knowledge in Compliance, Political, Sanctions, Country and Research analysis. Duration is 6 months. Upon successful completion, it may lead to a permanent job offer.
Responsibilities
- Conducting research of intended subject matter according to business needs.
- Utilize professional sources to find and extract pertinent information.
- Analyze and connect relevant data.
- Conduct thorough research about industries, sectors, individual companies, markets, politics of different countries, using Turkish, English or any other regional language.
- Acquire, clean, standardize, transform, structure, and store data from various data sources, maintain and update databases with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Interpret, analyze, evaluate, interrelate research data and develop integrated business analyses and projections for incorporation into strategic decision-making.
- Research and learn new frameworks and technologies, as needed.
- Report the results and findings of the research to the Team Lead, and demonstrate an eagerness for professional growth, taking into account Job supervisor’s feedback.
Required qualifications.
- Most importantly, familiarity and passion for the Politics, Business and Regulation.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science, International Relations, Law or similar.

In this role, you will critically contribute to analyzing, planning, and co-directing our regulatory, political, country, sanctions, PEPs, and SOE research efforts. Responsibilities
What We Expect from You
Research Tasks:
- Serve as a Competence Center, guiding a team of mid-career researchers on the latest regulatory developments in areas such as Sanctions, PEPs, SOEs, etc.
- Direct the planning and execution of sectorial research, ensuring alignment with Tech Teams.
- Lead and conduct topical research as per business requirements.
- Conduct quality reviews for assigned teams.
- Stay abreast of regulatory changes and developments.
- Occasionally draft White Papers and Policy Research on risk-related topics.
- Represent the company at various industry events.
Technology Operations:
- Integrate human research efforts with Big Data outputs.
- Coordinate with Sales, Marketing, and Tech Teams on ongoing research projects.
- Acquire a quick, high-level understanding of data structures, AI models, and tech operations.
Managerial Aspects:
- Depending on your experience and skills, supervise a large team of mid-career researchers, both on-site and remotely, across different time zones internationally.
- Provide training in global PEP, Sanctions, and AML regulations, practices, and procedures.
- Offer feedback to team members and assess their performance.
Required Qualifications
- A PhD is preferred, or at a minimum, a Master's Degree in Political Science, International Affairs, International Law, Journalism, or a related field. This role requires a strong mix of Political Science/IR skills and a practical understanding of legal, and paralegal concepts, and regulations.
- A minimum of 5 years of directly relevant experience in PEPs, SOEs, Sanctions, and Watchlist publishing. Excellent knowledge of key sanctions regimes, concepts, typologies, and terminologies, as well as PEPs and SOEs definitions and regulations.
- Profound knowledge of UBOs, Corporate structures, Trusts, and similar entities.
- Expertise in operational research processes, industry best practices, and expectations concerning research typologies, frameworks, and quality assurance processes.
- Managerial skills and the ability to plan and supervise research across large teams on diverse topics.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English, with a solid professional level in one of the following languages: French, Russian, Spanish, Arabic, or Chinese.

You will provide technical leadership to the development team, ensuring adherence to best practices, coding standards, and architectural principles.

- Participate in all phases of software development life cycle.
- Lead the design, development, and implementation of complex Java-based applications, ensuring scalability, performance, and reliability.
- Produce and maintain clean, high-quality code.

- Collaborate with architects and stakeholders to design robust, scalable, and maintainable software solutions that meet business requirements.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and propose effective solutions.
- Experience in project management, including task estimation, resource allocation, and project planning, is beneficial.
- A passion for learning and staying updated with the latest technologies, trends, and best practices in Java development and software engineering.
- A commitment to writing clean, maintainable code, along with experience in test-driven development (TDD).
- Fluency in English reading/writing/speaking.
